Before you can enroll, you must be approved for Medicaid. Applying for Medicaid is easy.

Medicaid Eligibility:

Medicaid provides medical coverage to low-income individuals and families. Eligibility in Florida is determined either by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) or the Social Security Administration (for SSI recipients). DCF determines Medicaid eligibility for:

  • Parents and caretakers relatives of children
  • Children
  • Pregnant women
  • Former Foster Care Individuals
  • Non-citizens with medical emergencies
  • Aged or disabled individuals not currently receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

Florida Healthy Kids

The Florida Healthy Kids program, administered by Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, is designed for school-aged children. It is available to children age 5 until the 19th birthday. Florida Healthy Kids offers both a subsidized CHIP and full-pay option. Parents do not need to be eligible for Medicaid to be approved by Florida Healthy Kids.
